Project Description
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE RED ARMOUR
There were a number of reasons I wanted to start a Word Bearers collection, quite apart from being the original bad guys of the Horus Heresy. Ultimately it was the palette, the contrast of metallic red armour and flat black accents. It’s a scheme that looks great on both infantry and armour and for me one of the reasons heresy-era Legions look so unique compared to their Warhammer 40,000 successors.
DAEMON KIN
One of the themes in my Word Bearers I visualised very early on was the Daemon kin. The denizens of the warp were only recently introduced in Book VIII “Malevolence” as the daemons of the ruinstorm and I really wanted to tap into their unnatural appearance as something apart from the usual faction palette used in AoS and 40K. I chose instead to use a pallid, milky appearance livid with bruising and stigmata, something I could develop in the future as I expanded my allied units.
