On Fridays somewhat belated stream (life and all its shenanigans) I briefly talked about Season Two, for want of a better title on Twitch. The first couple of months since I started this journey/adventure/endeavour have really been about finding my feet and learning the gotchas of live streaming. Season One was always going to be about figuring things out and learning the basics before I make a decision whether or not to take it to the next stage and make it a regular part of my hobby. It was also about getting the right kit in place to launch Season Two properly and that (I think) I've largely cracked now having diverted most of the past two months hobby kitty towards new broadcast equipment and [...]
Wednesday's stream will be the first in a series for the newly launched Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire arena miniatures game. I figured after my recent bout of Nurgle-loves-you-itis I'd take a bit of a break from the grimdark (*psst!* Not really a break; I just built a Plagueburst Crawler but that can be our little secret) and focus on something more light-hearted instead. Like Khorne blood sacrifices and skull-crushing hammers of Sigmar. I only picked up Shadespire a day ago so it still has the new box smell, but already the eight miniatures included are assembled and ready for paint. Being pre-coloured push-fit miniatures they can be used straight out of the box and I don't doubt many more interested in the deck building aspects of [...]
Back in the saddle painting the Blood Angels Primaris Ancient and talking all things Tarssis from the Heresy weekender in Cheltenham.
Plan for upcoming regular Wednesday slot is the redeployment of an old Imperial Basilisk artillery piece painted decades back to something fitting the current 40K grimdark. Of course with Nurgle in the ascendency anything could happen before then so subject to change.
Saturday's stream was all about getting my Blood Angels some Fast Attack spun up and ready to fight. Previously I showed the Assault Squad I put together for the Fate of Kronor gaming day and of course there are the Inceptors from the Dark Imperium box, but Blood Angels wouldn't be right without at least one Land Speeder so I figured I'd start with a biggie and roll out a Typhoon. To be fair it's only that variant because I found the missile pods in the bits box and figured "why not?". The pre-stream groundwork, other than assembly was to get the Speeder and crew primed and painted with the base colours which consisted of Vallejo Game Air Reds and black. This was all done [...]
Bonus Saturday stream to make up for no Friday events. Continuing growing the Blood Angels force for 40K with a salvaged 'bits-box' plastic Land Speeder "Typhoon"
Only three weeks until the Tarssis 4 weekender and I decide now's a good time to learn streaming on Twitch. It comes as no surprise to me that it's a lot more difficult than I thought. Who would have thought painting, reading and talking at the same time could be such a challenge. Every time I stream is a voyage of discovery and new challenges, some of the lessons learned thus far: Silence is not golden, but there has to be a happy medium between me saying nothing and talking non-stop like a caffeine-fuelled Baboon. Who would have thought? Drink more. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Just deal with it. I can't stay in shot to save my life. Nobody at either [...]
A massive thanks before I get into the painting updates to Kurt and Chip who organised and hosted yesterday's 'Fate of Konor' 40K day at Incom Gaming in Cheltenham. Absolutely cracking days 8th Edition gaming; they never disappoint putting on a top show. Despite my Blood Angels getting absolutely mullered (blame the general not the troops, they put in a good effort) and each of the four games were all in their own ways a lot of fun with plenty of heroic and sometimes 'unfortunate' cinematic moments. Like my Captain slaying two Dark Angel Terminators in revenge after being mortally struck down, stabbed in the back by a treacherous deep strike behind my lines. Or my Redemptor spectacularly exploding and deleting only one (1) Night [...]
So many plates spinning at the moment hard to know where to begin. Let's start with the reason you're probably here; the painting. I worked out my 1000 points Blood Angels list for (imminently!) upcoming 40K fun intro event and being mostly the new Primaris I found I really didn't get a lot of models for my points. Probably not much of a surprise there, so I made a few tweaks to at least give my opponents something to look at, as well as hopefully fun to play. Even though I have now painted up the Inceptor squad from the Dark Imperium boxed set I have, at the 11th hour (in painting terms at least) decided to swap them out in favour of a Blood [...]
Just checking some parts on one of the most novel miniatures I've had on the workbench in some time. Noodles anyone?
